it’s not that i’m getting older... it’s that i’m just smarter!

so, there's always a period that one goes through after high school where all the people they know are getting married... that is unless you are one of the ones that got married... but you get what i mean... you read in the paper, get an email, etc about people getting married... after that phase comes the "hey we had kids" phase which is the natural progression of things, but it seems right now i'm in the "hey we are getting a divorse" phase... this phases sucks and rocks at the same time... i mean, you hate to see your friend be unhappy and get a divorce, but it also means that you have more single friends again... it's bittersweet! it just is strange that within the past six months about 20 of my friends have gone through a divorce... and i never know if it's a bad thing or a good thing for them... because some people don't want to split, but do... and others need to split... you get what i'm saying... but i know nothing of such life... i am still here... and still single... i'm still debating if that's a bad thing or not...

what’s flu? i don’t know! what’s flu with you?

so, i'm not saying it was the flu vaccine that did it, but it certainly was suspicious that i obtained flu like symptoms shortly after getting one this year... you try to be all good and get one to help not get one and sometimes it just goes ahead and gets you when you were just trying to get it to prevent it... does that make sense? no, well it does in my nyquil filled head! so, there... see, this is where i start my rant on the organized flu vaccine shortage as a way to promote getting a flu vaccine and/or to encourage drug makers to get into the vaccine business for when the bird flu comes along... oh, and don't even get me started on the bird flu... mostly because what i know would scare the shit out of you... and i just can't believe that it would necessarily be needed, but hey, what the hell do i know? i mean, i'm the guy who thought that the flu shot was safe... right?

it’s all the rage!

okay... so... it's become very "the clear" i mean clear, that a lot more athletes used steroids than orginally thought... the latest... marion jones... the gold medal olympic winner admitted she lied to federal agents the other day because she told them she did not take steroids... but she did... i could ramble on like everyone else in this world about how horrible this is... about how doping and steroid use degrades the integrity of the games... yada, yada, yada... etc., etc., etc... but i won't... why? because i don't care... in fact... i fully endorse professional athletes to use performance enhancing drugs... doping... whatever... i want them to go faster... be stronger... go father... i want my money's worth... i want to see something amazing... if i am going to shell out hundreds of dollars... (even at the olympics)... i expect to get some awesome action... i want entertainment... and i want it anyway you want to serve it up...

have you ever noticed...

have you ever noticed that i will be writting what has the potential of being this great blog posting... it has all the earmarks in the first five to ten sentences or so... it has current events...it has references... educated opinion... it is going somewhere... and then it sort of peters out... it's like my thoughts that have been plaguing me for days subside when the emotion is first relieved... yeah, i really hate that... i don't know... maybe it's just that i had to answer a phone call that drained my... wait, what was i talking about?

in doubt about the drought

water! water! everywhere, but not a drop to drink... that was how it was in florida... whenever there was a drought, not as many people took it seriously because the place is surrounded by water... and for those people who did take it seriously... like me... was still comforted by the fact that there was salt water around to where if things got really bad, we could always build a desalination plant and take the salt out of the water... pricey, but it would be a good fall back... here in georgia, we got lakes... fresh water lakes... and in those fresh water lakes, there's not much water... and these lakes don't just service the metro atlanta area... oh, no... they feed into rivers that flow to alabama and florida... so, it's not just people turning on their taps here that's doing it... but the problem and big difference between a drought in florida and a drought here is... well, there's no real options... truck water in... that's about it... so, the next time you see your punkass neighbors watering their lawns, narc on them... they suck and are only contributing to the blight of society... oh, and when it rains... don't start driving like idiots... i know you haven't seen it in a while, but that's no excuse to go 20 mph on the interstate... for real!

moons over my sputnik

so, japan sent a rocket to the moon... it was unmanned, but still at least they are there... it's a big step for them and all on the biggest step of all, the anniversary of sputnik... it's been hailed as the biggest moon program since nasa's apolo program... which begs the question, why aren't we doing this? what are we doing in our space program? no, really... oooo, we got people in orbit for millions of days on end... look at us... aren't we great... oh, and we sent rovers to mars... and we are drilling into rocks... even if that was like five years ago... oooo... what happened to us? seriously? where and when did our exploration of the universe become so short-sighted that we let the japanese have all the fun? i just think there are big challenges in this universe and we should try some of them... of course, this is where all the skeptics come in and point out that the reason that we aren't sending people back to the moon is because we've never been there in real life... the space program was a hoax... or it was for real, but what we saw was staged because they wanted to hide what we were really doing there... wait! what were we talking about?

survivorman

have any of you seen the tv show survivorman? this show is just crazy... they drop this guy out in the middle of nowhere, simulating some sort of an accident or scenerio that could actually happen, and he has to survive in the wild for seven days... the show comes on the discovery channel and repeats on one of the discovery channel sister stations... this show is crazy... i mean crazy... did i mention that he is alone... he sets up the cameras... he does all the shooting and commentary... it's crazy... especially after a few drinks... man alive!

a complete non sequitur...

contrary to popular belief, rabbit poop is actually in the shape of little balls... like barries... i had a rabbit growing named bucky... we called his poop bucky balls... not at all like its piece of carbon for which its named... but still...

the oddity of multitasking...

i must have always had an adhd prone personality... or at least an abstract immersionist... yeah, don't ask... this of course is a good thing for someone who is supposed to be doing a billion different thing all at once... which ironically is what i do everyday... go figure that one... but... and this one is a big but... there are drawbacks... you see i can't just enjoy myself with doing one thing at home... i mean right now, (hey it's your tomorrow!) i am writing this blog (duh!), playing a game of mahjong solitaire (ugh! addictions suck!), found the song i've just heard on the show 'dead like me,' which leads me to the obvious one which is watching the show 'dead like me' that my tivo record for me... such a nice little fellow for doing that i know... and now, the song 'right now' by van halen popped in my head because i said right now, so i had to look up an appropriate lyric to put after the phrase "right now," but ultimately just went with what i thought of orginally... now, i'm looking up the lyrics to 'boom boom ba' by métisse which is what the song was called... oh, and hey, i just remember to try to download the song 'mad world' by gary jules... you get the point... i'm all over the freakin' place... and enjoying it... so, when i go and do something that's supposed to be immersion into another world, such as reading or playing a video game, i get bored... this had lead to some strange mental associations... indulge me just a little further... i'm a great fan of the myst series... for those who went to dragoncon this past week, you can skip this part... for the rest of you, these are games where you immerse yourself into another universe... the graphics, music, and general terrain of the game is well... just play it, damn it! it's amazing... but travis can't just play the game... no, when 'riven the sequel to myst' came out, i had to have the tv on... and on the tv was 'petticoat junction!' tvland was the bomb back in the day... so, i will forever link 'riven' to 'petticoat junction.' to find this the least bit amusing, you have to know about both... sorry... look it... the other, nine inch nails... yes... nine inch nails... hey, i saw you slap your forehead there in anticipation of something even crazier than 'petticoat junction!' anyway, i will forever associate nine inch nail's 'the downward spiral' with 'the cronical of narnia' the book series... yes, i used to read... a lot... yeah, that was my reaction when i realized that those two are linked in my head... crazy... so, it is my blessing... it is my curse... but i wouldn't have it any other way... unless i got on some good prescription drugs... hehe...

it's not that i am scared that i have low self-esteem... it's that i'm perfectly content with who i am... and it really, really, really scares me...
